for La Fortress, a BDSM educational and social club
for consenting adults in the
Triad Area of North Carolina.
MISSION STATEMENT
The La Fortress is an organization designed to promote the education and training of BDSM as well as to provide a safe, sane and consensual environment for those who practice and view BDSM as their sexuality.
BY-LAWS
I. PURPOSE & INTENT
1. The official name for this association shall be known as “La Fortress”, incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the State of North Carolina.
2. La Fortress is a stand-alone non-profit organization made up of a Executive Council and private members dedicated to providing education, support, and a local social network for its members in a safe, responsible and discretion-conscious environment.
3. To maintain national/international communication, information, education and support network for all members of the Leather/BDSM/Fetish community providing through publications, educational material and conferences, a forum for the sharing of
knowledge, viewpoints and practices of a diverse network of people.
4. To provide a safe and secure environment to all adults who engage in Safe, Sane and Consensual sexual expression and encourages freedom of rights between consenting adults.
5. To promote the success and welfare of individuals, organizations, publications and businesses within our community; especially against threats to their freedom of expression, freedom of the press, rights to free association and right to equal protection under the law
6. La Fortress does not participate in the political, social, or organizational agendas of other groups, nor does not participate in any political activism as an organization, but may support other organizations that
have political goals.
7. La Fortress does not condone, suggest, or endorse any activity that is illegal or non-Consensual.
8. La Fortress will continue to preserve a record of
our history, traditions and culture.
II. ETIQUETTE STATEMENT
1. Socials
La Fortress shall provide a comfortable and a safe forum where its members can meet, socialize and play with like minded individuals free from the fear of censure or stigma. Membership at the Fortress offers a private social environment for organization’s meetings, and a comfortable atmosphere to discover one another.
2. Educational
La Fortress plans to effectively communicate news and information about lifestyle groups, businesses, events, resources, and scene news in Greensboro and the rest of North Carolina and plans to educate our local fetish community about safe, sane, and consensual play techniques and basic etiquette trough informal socializing and formal programs.
3. Networking
La Fortress is meant to be a catalyst for the growth of a healthy Greensboro community with strong ties to other community groups in North Carolina. We will encourage the formation of other non-profit groups in North Carolina with the same Statement of Purpose in order to build a stronger community. We will create a network of resources for professionals, businesses, individuals, and groups.
III. FISCAL YEAR
1. La Fortress' fiscal year shall run from January 1st through December 31st.
IV. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
1. The policies and procedures established by the Executive Council shall be used to conduct the business of La Fortress
V. EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
1. The Executive Council must consist of at
least two members at all times.
2. The Executive Council is empowered to
make all decisions necessary for operation.
3. The Executive Council may create committees, either stand or temporary, and appoint members
to those committees as it deems appropriate
and necessary for operation
VI. MEMBERSHIP
Membership in La Fortress shall be open to
all persons that understand and support the Statement of Purpose and pay the required dues. They must be at least 18 years of age with proper I.D. Membership shall be open to organizations and businesses that understand and support the Statement of Purpose.
Membership shall be determined without regard for sex, race, creed, color, religion, marital or relationship status, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, citizenship or any sensory or physical challenge
PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERSHIP
Members shall be entitled to:
i. The use of resources and a safe, sane
and consensual environment.
ii. Receive official publications
iii. Receive discounts at conferences;
receive such discounts as
Commercial or Affiliate members offer to
individual members
iv. The right to petition for action
v. Such other privileges and/or
benefits as may be determined by
the Executive Council
VII. DUES
1. Individual Membership dues are $20 a year.
2. Determination of the dues for affiliate group, association or organization shall be set by the Executive Council
3. In cases of financial hardship, dues may be reduced or restructured on an individual basis.
4. Suggested donations for socials and events are $15 per person and $25 per couple.
VIII. REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP
The Executive Council may revoke any membership for cause as determined by that body in accordance .
